AFRICA RISING
In recent years, Africa has experienced an economic and political resurgence. There is mounting evidence of political stability and economic growth. New industries - manufacturing, telecommunications, banking, and agriculture - are flourishing.
YOUNGEST CONTINENT
Africa is also the world’s youngest continent. Sixty-two percent of the population is under the age of 25. One hundred and twenty-two million people will enter the workforce between 2010 and 2020.
Optimism about the region’s unprecedented growth must be seen in the context of economic and social inclusion, particularly for its young people. Far too many are excluded from the labor market and formal economy due to poverty, lack of education, and lack of relevant skills.
THE EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY
We know that education will lead to prosperity in Africa. To sustain the continent’s progress, we must educate its future leaders and create a skilled workforce for the global economy.
